Frequently Asked Questions
Treatments are generally gentle and aimed at relaxation and recovery. However, it is possible that some treatments may feel temporarily sensitive, especially in areas that are tight or tense. After a session, some patients may experience short-term muscle soreness, fatigue, or mild after-pain. This is normal and a sign that the body is responding and working on recovery. This usually disappears within a day or two.
This varies per person and complaint. Some complaints improve after just one treatment, while others require multiple sessions. During the first consultation, we will discuss an indication of the number of treatments that might be appropriate.
Physiotherapy often focuses on treating specific muscles, joints, or movements. The focus is usually on improving strength, mobility, or recovery after an injury.Osteopathy takes a broader view of the body and examines the interconnectedness of various systems: muscles, joints, organs, and the nervous system. It focuses not only on the area where pain or restriction is experienced, but also on how other parts of the body may influence this. Osteopathy aims to restore balance and freedom of movement throughout the entire body. Additionally, osteopathy pays close attention to prevention and supporting the body's self-healing capacity. It can help reduce symptoms, prevent the recurrence of complaints, and improve overall well-being.

Yes, I can investigate and treat multiple complaints during a consultation. Depending on the intensity of the symptoms, more than one session may sometimes be necessary.
Some patients experience immediate relief, while with other complaints the effect becomes gradually visible over a few days to weeks. It depends on the nature, duration, and severity of the complaint.
Osteopathy is generally safe. This is because the treatment is carefully tailored to the patient's body and complaints, taking into account their medical history, mobility, and the condition of muscles, joints, and organs. The techniques are gentle and aimed at stimulating the body's self-healing capacity, making the risk of damage or serious side effects very small. Sometimes the body may react briefly with mild fatigue or (muscle) pain, which is a normal sign that the body is in the process of recovering.
Yes, osteopathy can usually be safely combined with other treatments or medication. Always inform your osteopath about medications, therapies, or medical procedures so that this can be taken into account.
